Frimley Green Carnival

Held on the 10th July, the 2011 Frimley Green Carnival was a great success, with a large and enthusiastic crowd, a tremendous carnival procession with some really original floats, the photograph to the left shows the Pirates of the Caribbean Float run by the Frimley Green Working Mens Club. There was a varied and entertaining program of events in the central arena on the Green plus a great variety of stalls amongst which was the Society's. We would like to thank the Frimley Green Carnival Committee who as usual did a fantastic job in organising and running the carnival.

Our stall featured an old photograph display and current photograph display of the local area, information on the Society and an exciting raffle. Sharon Cross, Curator of the Surrey Heath Museum, kindly donated the photographs of Mytchett, Frimley Green and Deepcut for the old photograph display. Carol Drew, our Treasurer, displayed and sold cards with current photographs of the local area on them. The card display can be seen in the photograph to the right with Carol and Kevin Daley, the Chair of the Society, standing next to the display. Also featured is Daphne Knowles, our Wildlife Expert, and to the left of Daphne, Committee Members Howard Hyde and Rod Carroll.

Our raffle featured 30 prizes many of which were donated by local shops and businesses. We would like to thank all these organisations for their help and generosity, see the List of Donors for who donated prizes and helped us, also see the List of Donated Prizes.

The photograph to the left shows Kevin, with the Mayor and Mayoress of Surrey Heath, Tim and Janina Dodds. Having lead the carnival procession in a classic red e-type Jaguar, the two of them visited the stalls and watched events on the Green, the photograph was taken when they very graciously visited our stall.
