2nd June 2012
Canalside Jubilee Event 2012
Organised by the Basingstoke Canal Society

Starting on June 2nd there was a three day Canalside Jubilee Event in Frimley Lodge Park and on the Basingstoke Canal, organized by the Basingstoke Canal Society also known as the Surrey and Hampshire Canal Society. This was to celebrate both the Jubilee, the 21st Anniversary of the Canal Reopening from Woodham to Greywell along with the latest repairs to the Canal. The event was attended by local residents and those from much further afield, the MFG&D Society had a stall at this event promoting its place in the community.

There were a number of boats and barges to see on the Canal plus boat rides between the Canal Centre and the Lakeside Complex. In the Park proper there were stalls, rides and displays along with a concert given by the Farnborough Concert Band.

On the first day the SHBC Mayor Councillor Bruce Mansell visited, taking a short trip on the Canal, later on in the afternoon he cut the 21st Anniversary Cake.
